Emma's mom passed away recently, so she's looking for a new family who will love her just as dearly. She has been vetted, is heartworm negative and very well mannered! We believe she is an American Bully or Pitweiler.
Emma would appreciate a fairly calm atmosphere. She does like other calm male dogs, given a proper introduction & adjustment period. We have introduced her to cats. She didn't pay them much attention, but further cat testing would be needed if she were going to a home with cats.
Emma can be nervous with some people, usually men who approach her too quickly and don't let her come to them. If cornered, she may fear bite. She needs a home that is understanding of dog behavior and prepared to protect and separate her from stressful situations. This means crating and/or separating in another room while company visits, then either working up to proper introductions or just leaving her to chill until company leaves. Emma needs someone who understands it's about what's best for Emma long-term and keeping her safe. Once you're in with Emma - you're her person for life!
This sweetie is a joyful girl with a lot of love to give. She loves to play and snuggle on the couch. She is very devoted to her person and looks to them for her confidence and guidance. Emma did well with basic training. Ideally, her adopter would take her through a professional dog training class to build her confidence, the human's leadership skills and their bond.
A completed adoption application and home visit are required for approval to adopt a CARE dog. Out of state adoptions okay. The most accurate and complete information about available dogs can be found on our official website at www.caretoadopt.org.
