Meet Kingston!

What a handsome cutie pie! Sadly, his family was moving and couldn't take him.

Here’s his resume: Very affectionate & loves to be in your lap. Very athletic! Needs to have fence so he can, run, run, run! He plays fetch and has learned that “drop it” means letting go of the ball so we can have more Fun! Loves other dogs. Very vocal, talks to you and his toys and blanky. Very mouthy needs to have something to chew like benebone always available. Loves soft toys but must be monitored because he’ll eat them. Put his blanky in his crate at night and put away each morning or he’ll eat it. He sleeps in his crate at night, lounges on furniture during the day. Has some environmental allergies. Have him on zyrtec 1&1/2 tabs seems to be working. Has been chewing on paws so just switched him from chicken and rice to salmon and potatoes. Too early to tell if that’s going to help. Not a picky eater gobbles down anything so highly food motivated. Doesn’t walk great on leash(walks between your legs) so that needs work. He gets nervous at vet and grooming visits so need’s anxiety meds for those. When he first came was resource guarding toys, food, anything in his mouth but only with humans not our other dog. No longer does that so please don’t try and take anything out of his mouth or it may trigger starting over with that. He tries to eat mulch etc in yard so we have a benebone for outside and treats if he goes for something he shouldn’t. He does have a high level of separation anxiety when I leave even with Thom and Cooper being home with him. He eventually settles on his own and sleeps until I come back. Very good watch dog. Forgot to mention he’s a jumper. Everything gets him so excited he has to jump for joy. I ignore this behavior until he sits on his own then he gets affection or treat.

A completed adoption application and home visit are required for approval to adopt a CARE dog. Out of state adoptions okay. All dogs receive a distemper/parvovirus vaccine(s), kennel cough vaccine, rabies vaccine, dewormer, monthly heartworm prevention, flea & tick prevention and treatment if needed, microchip, and are spayed/neutered through CARE.
